There are a lot of actual greenfield problems outside the Silicon Valley bubble, especially in the emerging markets. We have the tech to solve them and we should deploy it. I didn’t want to be building another app that made my life marginally more convenient when I had the chance to actually benefit people and fundamentally alter what’s possible for entire societies.

At Flourish, Su Fen focuses on investments in leading-edge fintech technologies, such as blockchain and cryptocurrency. She also covers the Southeast Asian market, helping to expand the firm’s pipeline throughout the region.

Before coming to Flourish, Su Fen was a product principal at HVF Labs, Max Levchin’s fintech incubator in San Francisco, where she partnered with founders to explore outside-the-box hypotheses and quickly build MVPs in eldercare insurance and personal cash flow smoothing. Su Fen began her career at J.P. Morgan as an investment banking analyst on the Technology team.

Su Fen is originally from Singapore and graduated from Princeton. In her free time, she delights in securities analysis, deploying arbitrage strategies in crypto, and helping nonprofits build free websites. Fun fact: it took her an hour to exit Vim the first time (she gave up and Googled the right command key).
