Today, the New York Times T Brand Studio released a sponsored article titled “Are Americans Financially Healthy?” that highlights findings from the U.S. Financial Health Pulse 2018 Baseline Survey. Flourish is a proud founding partner of the inaugural U.S. Financial Health Pulse, led by the Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI). The study is designed to capture a more holistic picture of the financial health of people in America over time.
The New York Times conducted more than 10 interviews with key stakeholders, including funders, advisors, and partners of the initiative, as well as members of CFSI’s Board of Directors.
“At CFSI, we’ve been focused on improving people’s financial lives for the last 15 years,” says Jennifer Tescher, the president and CEO of CFSI. “But to truly help people make progress, we realized we needed to create a drumbeat of data for people to understand the state of financial health in America on an ongoing basis.”
This goal was shared by many, including Tilman Ehrbeck, a purpose-driven venture capital investor and a managing partner at Flourish, a venture of the Omidyar Group, and a founding sponsor of the Pulse. “We had this anecdotal sense that Americans are not doing as well as the macro indicators would suggest,” he says. “What we really needed was a set of more granular statistics.”
